Remember when they spun an entire tale based on the passing of a cursed bronze statue in Junior Mandrake? And the bus in Ee Parakkum Thalika becoming as important as its lead characters? The latest to join the list of films with an object as the key plot device is Jayan K Nair’s Hello Namasthe, which revolves around a jackfruit and its tree. The film’s director says, “It is a story based on a real-life incident showing how ego clashes destroy friendships.
Sanju Sivram and
Vinay Forrt are close buddies who continue their friendship even after marriage. But things change due to a jackfruit and a tree.”
Jayan goes on to say that such ego clashes are common in the society where neighbours fight for silly reasons, ruining good relations.
“There was an incident that happened in Trivandrum a few years ago, where an ego clash between two neighbours - a bank manager and a college professor - ended up in murder. And one went to jail,” he says. “But in Hello Namasthe, we have tried to tell the story in a positive light. It will be an eye opener for Malayalis.”
Apart from Sanju and Vinay, the movie has
Bhavana and
Miya George as its heroines.
