Police Junior

Story: Police Junior tells the story of the rising drug menace amongst the students of the State and how the SPC(Student Police Cadet) wing of Kerala Police helps them deal with it.

Review: How best can one make a tepid compilation of clichés, and call it a movie? And dramatize it to the extreme that the plotline becomes the laughing stalk for the audience? Police Junior is a classic example.

The drug peddlers near the government school of Pattikadu pose as engineering students and spread their networks through innocent girls, who fall prey to their ‘relationship’ tactics. Led by a cop named Sai Ram, the Kerala Police makes use of the Student Police Cadets to tackle the mafia.

All that you can credit the movie with is the seemingly earnest intention the makers had to make a teen drama with a timely, social message. The child actor who plays the role of Eldho is an unpolished talent as well. However, everything else about it works against making the film a decent watch.

To start with, the premise is not fleshed out well, dialogues are absolutely pretentious and the screenplay, unappealing. It's spiced up with horrendous background music that tries it's best to guide the audience on what they are supposed to 'feel’ at every juncture, only to fail miserably. All of it is packed into a flaccid framework of a thriller that tests your patience. And to give it some flesh and blood, you have a cast that mostly seems to have no clue about what acting is. All of them make for enough ingredients to make Police Junior as unappealing as it can be.

Police Junior has nothing that merits two and a half hours of a movie goer’s time that looks for a sensible film or a minimum dosage of entertainment.
