Old Is Gold

Story: Song and dance troupe Old is Gold performs at wedding parties and other functions. The blind lead singer falls into a bling girl. Romance begins to bloom, but the girl belongs to a rich family, leading to complexities in their love life

Review: Haneef Kechery’s story has some twists and turns in it, though the direction gives you the feeling of watching a TV serial. However, Jubair Muhammed’s music is a saving point in the movie, specially the food song ‘Vadivaalinu Kutti Malathiya Puttunde’. Some songs are remixes of hit songs from the 80s.

Kalyani (Neha) as a blind girl and Dasan (film’s scriptwriter Haneef Kecheri) as a blind singer try their best to do justice to their roles and succeed to an extent. The others in the cast, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Shaju Navodaya, Nirmal, known for their comic timing, can’t do much to save the movie, with its weak comedy and storyline.

The movie has just one story thread, and that isn’t a very interesting thread. Some comedy bits seem ‘inspired’ from ‘Mannar Mathai Speaking’, but without good effect.
