Review: Lalappan is empathetic, compassionate and a nature lover. He reacts to things around uniquely, often against social expectations. So, he is considered as someone with weak mental health. Those who like him say that 'he is possessed by a djinn'.

Siddharth Bharathan makes a thought-provoking movie that brings forward the discussion on normality and abnormality. His directorial is written and crafted for Soubin Shahir who lives on screen as Lalappan, utilising the strengths and weaknesses of the actor. Rajesh Gopinath's story is much more than what's said on screen. It puts forward lives that are stuck in social structures, belief systems and moral consciousness.

While Shanthy Balachandran beautifully portrays Safa, a woman chained in a marriage, Leona Lishoy gives life to Tara Koshi, an air hostess who lives her life on her own terms. Performances of Shine Tom Chacko, Nishant Sagar, Sabumon Abdusamad, Sharaf U Dheen, KPAC Lalitha and Bhanumati Payyanur make the movie more engaging.

A strong script has been backed by good cinematography, music, audiography and making.

Djinn is a movie for entertainment and after thoughts. Normality is an illusion. What's normal for a tiger is chaos for a deer.
