Story: Mobile addict Tejaswini finds that her phone takes control of her life

Review: With mobiles undertaking multiple functions, from communication to information and entertainment, it has taken over our lives. What happens when it controls our lives and more is shown in Chathur Mukham, starring Manju Warrier in the lead.

Chathur Mukham is a techno horror film, a 'first of its kind' in Malayalam cinema, and it tries to deliver on the scares. But the film works more for the story, that looks at friendship, the question of how we would spend our last days and even our values.

Manju Warrier plays Tejaswini, who records most parts of her day on social media and so can't live without her phone. When she loses this prized possession and buys a new, cheap brand online, it unleashes horrors and threatens her life. Her friend Antony, played by Sunny Wayne, and physics professor, Alencier, have to try and help her devise a way to save herself.

It is the logic that can be brought to a horror story that would make us identify with the situation and hence, scare us. Directors Ranjeet Kamala Sankar and Salil V have created some scary moments, but the horror elements are not scripted strongly and 'logically' enough by writers K Abhayakumar and Anil Kurian.

Manju Warrier carries the role like only she could, being light-hearted when needed and shifting gears to feeling fearful in the most convincing manner. Sunny Wayne and Alencier lend able support. Watch Chathur Mukham for the novelty and some thought-provoking moments.
