After eight years of legal proceedings, the case against six people accused of sexually assaulting an actress and distributing explicit photos finally went to trial, during which the default verdict was guilty, and will be sentenced on 12 December. Concerns that actor Dileep, suspected of conspiring with the other six, were dismissed by the presiding judge of Ernakulam’s Principal Sessions Court, Honey M Varghese, who found insufficient evidence to support this claim. The trial began behind closed doors on 8 March 2018, following the survivor's request for a female presiding judge.Continued debate across public platforms
