Lahoma Bhattacharya rings in her birthday with friends
Lahoma Bhattacharya rang in her birthday on April 22, but for her, the day is less about a grand spectacle and more about quiet reflections. In a conversation with us, Lahoma shared that she views her special day as a significant personal milestone rather than just a celebration. “To me birthdays are like an audit of the year that has gone by – what I’ve learnt, what I’ve outgrown and what I still believe in.” This preference for being non-indulgent and reflective guided her celebrations this year, which centred on a quiet dinner where she could simply share stories with those who played a special role in her life.
The gathering was particularly significant because it brought together various important people from her life – from family and school friends to industry seniors and colleagues, making this the first time in nearly seven years that she had managed to get everyone together in one place. “As I grow older, I think time with our loved ones is a real luxury and that’s a real gift,” she said, acknowledging how difficult it is to coordinate such a reunion in a busy world.
The actress said she was ambushed with multiple cakes, but one stood out as particularly unique. Her film team surprised her with what she described as a “very cool cake” featuring her face on it. However, she said, “I am very superstitious, so I was avoiding cutting the face.”
Looking back at the fondest memories, she sees a beautiful pattern in her career. She considers this year memorable because it mirrors the feeling of her first film release in April 2022, which also fell very close to her birthday. She enjoys the way her personal and professional worlds align during this time of year, recalling how her current role was offered to her right after her birthday last year as a "belated gift". “So, I was joking and telling them that this year also my birthday has passed; I hope a birthday gift is coming soon,” she added with a laugh.
The actress' post-birthday plans are equally grounded. “I'll be catching up on sleep, distributing an abundance of leftover cake, and taking my friends who couldn’t make it to the party out for treats,” she said.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
