When 'Toxic' star Yash revealed he had already shot Dhanush’s iconic ‘Maari 2’ punch dialogue months before the film
In a fascinating revelation, Kannada superstar Yash disclosed that he recorded the now-iconic line, "If you're bad, then I'm your dad," long before it became synonymous with Dhanush's 'Maari 2'. While promoting 'KGF: Chapter 1', Yash remarked on how these kinds of coincidences frequently arise in the film industry.
Back in 2018, Kannada star Yash found himself at the centre of an unexpected conversation that crossed language barriers. During a media interaction, the actor spoke about a curious overlap involving a popular punch line that later became closely associated with Dhanush’s ‘Maari 2’.While discussing cinema coincidences with Behindwoods, Yash revealed that the now-famous line “If you’re bad, then I’m your dad” had already been filmed by him months earlier. Addressing the surprise around it, the actor said, “I’ve already filmed the same dialogue for my movie. It was shot almost six to eight months ago. It’s purely a coincidence that the same line surfaced later.”

‘KGF: Chapter 1’ and Yash’s powerful on-screen persona

At the time, Yash was promoting ‘KGF: Chapter 1’, a period action drama written and directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films. The film, starring Yash alongside Srinidhi Shetty, was set in the 1970s and early 1980s and featured him as Rocky, a character defined by ambition, aggression, and raw power. The film had completed shooting in August 2018 ahead of its December release.

No comparisons, just a cinema coincidence

Yash was quick to clarify that his statement was not meant to spark comparisons or controversies. He stressed that such similarities often happen organically in films and should be viewed as coincidences rather than competition.
The moment has since become a popular throwback, especially among fans who enjoy revisiting lesser-known trivia from across Indian cinema.
