Ooru Suttaru Hanumappa Horaga
is the 4th big production of Vishwapatha Kala Sangama. The
play
is directed by
Bhaskar Ninasam.
The story develops around the
statue of Lord Hanuman
, which is geographically and emotionally located between two villages, called Vajramatti and Dharegatti. The statue worshipped by people of both the villages suddenly disappears overnight – it is actually stolen by the people of Dharegatti. The issue escalates and reaches the police station and according to law, Hanuman becomes the real culprit. The police arrest Hanuman and put him in jail.
Innocent people who are devoted to Lord Hanuman start visiting the police station itself to worship him. After a few days the police station literally turns into a temple. Being clueless of how to handle the situation, the police take the matter to court.
The poor villagers, unable to pay the fees demanded by the lawyers, sell their property and belongings in order to arrange money. Empty-handed, they start migrating to the places like Goa and Bengaluru for their livelihood. None stay back to monitor the case of Hanuman! In the end, the court judgment is the real suspense and interesting part of the play. The play is narrated in a comical manner and various theatrical patterns.
