India Foundation for the Arts presents Dastangoi, a play that narrates tales of adventure, magic and warfare. The word Dastangoi refers to the art of storytelling and comes from two Persian words — Dastan and goi which means to tell a Dastan.
The performance, by Mahmood Farooqui and Danish Husain, will feature Dastan Mehtaab Jaadu Ki, a typical episode from the Tilism-e-Hoshruba chapter of the Dastan-e-Amir Ham za and an adaptation of a Rajasthani folk tale, Dastan-e-Chouboli.
Mahmood Farooqui has received support from the India Foundation for the Arts under the Extending Arts Practice programme towards research and exploring Dastangoi.
