Vedike Foundation's latest play is an adaptation of Parvathavani's Bahaddur Ganda
Get ready for an evening of rib-tickling comedy as Bengaluru-based Vedike Foundation, as part of their
year-long theatre festival, Vedike 40; CR Simha 80, is performing Parvathavani's classic play Bahaddur Ganda.
Designed and directed by Jasleen Ritwik Simha, the timeless comedy revolves around the travails of a middle-class family with two daughters. While the elder daughter Saroja is a haughty young lady with a mind of her own, the younger daughter, Shanta is one with a secret love affair. In the mix, there are also the harassed parents and a perplexed purohit– all of them who are desperate to find an ideal match for Saroja.
The play is set in the disco era and sways and swings to the energetic beats of those times, the team says.
Launched in 1983, Vedike Foundation has produced 35 major plays, 25 one act plays and has staged over 2500 performances. Celebrating two milestones this year-- the 40th year of the company and the 80th birth anniversary of founder C R Simha-- the team has planned a mega theatre experience for the city’s theatre lovers. As part of the festival, Vedike’s core team of 50 actors and 10 technicians is staging around 20 different productions, across 36 shows across two venues in the city.
