Directed by Prakash Belawadi, the play The Square Root of a Sonnet will be staged this weekend. The play revolves around a 19-year-old Indian boy named Subramanyan Chandrasekhar, who won the
Nobel Prize in 1983. The story is about Chandra and his mentor Arthur Eddington, who was behind the suppression of Chandra’s discovery of black holes. Why did Eddington try to destroy Chandra? The play attempts to answer this question through an exploration of the intriguing and complex relationship between two giants of modern astrophysics – Chandra and Eddington.
