The plight of displaced people

Open Cast is a story about displaced people, and how it affects them and their newly forged relationships with strange people and places. What do the displaced lose – self-identity and anonymity or freedom? What are their problems? Language, food or being an outsider? It’s not just the people but their culture which also has to suffer the wrench.
The play comprises two parallel stories – one about new arrivals in the affluent capital city of Delhi looking for a better life and the other about people forced to endure evacuation from the coal-mining town of Dhanbad.
Directed by Amit Sharma, the artistes of the play include Abhinav Kimothi, Manoj Pandey, Danish Khan, Daisy Hookens, Surya Raizada, Siddhesh Dharmadhikari, Dev Singh, Shahbaz Khan and Gautam Mehta.
It is scheduled to take place from November 27 to 29 at Jagriti Theatre: Whitefield, Bengaluru, Ramagondanahalli, Varthur Road.
