The Phatak Yaksha Samskruti Trust Karkala presents an evening of Tala Maddale which is one of south India's most ancient forms of impromptu debate performance. Being showcased this Friday at 7.30 pm is variant of Yakshagana in which artists sit across in a place without any costumes and engage in testing their oratory skills.
A derived form of Yakshagana, Tala Maddale' is hugely popular in Udupi, Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Kasargod in Kerala. This particular presentation follows the Badagutittu style, prevalent from Udupi to Karwar in Northern Karnataka.
Directed by A P Phatak Karkala has been sung by A P Phatak Karkala and Kolagi Keshava Hegde and also features Shashanka Arnady, V Sankadagundy Ganapathi Bhat, V Umakanth Bhat, Ujira Ashoka Bhat, and Vasudeva Ranga Bhatta.
