A Shakespeare-inspired clown play

The Rajat Kapoor-directed play, Nothing Like Lear, will be staged in Ranga Shankara between January 14 and 19
A Shakespeare-inspired clown play
This devised performance based on William Shakespeare’s King Lear is the third in a series of clown-based plays written and directed by Rajat Kapoor -- the first two being C for Clowns and Hamlet—The Clown Prince.
Atul Kumar and Vinay Pathak usually take turns to perform the part of a lonely clown who is teetering on the verge of sanity in this one-man play. Like the titular character in the original play -- who is rejected in his old age by his two eldest daughters after he wills them his kingdom -- the clown is abandoned by his only child.

The clown recounts how the daughter he cared for grew up and realized she had no use for her father anymore == but not before getting him to buy her a flat.
The 100-minute English play is being staged at Ranga Shankara on January 14, 15, 16 and 17 at 7.30 pm, and on January 18 and 19 at 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm.
