Basava Express
is an attempt to study the subject of migration to cities in contemporary India. This is the story of Shantu from Shaktinagar and Basavanappa from Anegundi who flee their flood-affected villages only to get trapped in the dream of the metropolis called Bangalore. While Shantu wants to be an artist, Basavanappa is saving money to be able to repay his debt in the village. The play explores relationships between father and son and the relationship of migrants with the city they inhabit.
