Meet Indian theatre’s most lovable thief

Coming weekend make it a point to head to Jagriti Theatre to watch the iconic play by Habib Tanvir, Charandas Thief. The play directed by Arundhati Raja is a contemporary representation of Habib's classic play, based on the translation by Anjum Katyal.
Charandas is a thief and a very lovable one. He is a thief who vows never to tell a lie. He also makes three other vows believing that he will never be tested on them.But life is not so easy and it takes him on a ride where he is constantly tempted to break each vow.
"Join him on his journey where he meets many people who are not thieves, but how honest are they? Full of fun, laughter and some sadness too, the play is in English but - set in our city, English as we speak it in Namma Bengaluru," says a team member of the play.
