Kannada film director KM Chaitanya spoke at the National Theater Summit in Mumbai today. On Monday, the filmmaker took to his micro-blogging page to say, "Off to Mumbai tomorrow to participate at the National Theater Summit at

The event, a first of its kind, was conceptualized with the view to bring theatre practitioners from diverse backgrounds across India to assemble under one roof to discuss the future of Indian theatre. Its highlights include a theatre carnival at which participants will witness a colourful ensemble of theatre, music, dance, folk performances, a seminar and paper presentations on a variety of issues concerning theatre in India. The festival was inaugurated by India's renowned theatre director, Ratan Thiyam with his latest production of Macbeth at the Ravindra Natya Mandir on March 24.
The evenings are set for platform performances, including folk and puppet theatre performances. The audience will get to participate in interviews with living theatre legends such as Vijaya Mehta and Chandrashekhar Khambar. The festival will also stage solo performances by theatre veterans such as B Jayashree.
