Catch Vaave this weekend

This is a Kannada play on relationships
Catch Vaave this weekend
For Kannada theatre lovers, there's a treat lined up this weekend. Prakaasam will stage their play Vaave again, which has wowed audiences. It will be staged at KH Kala Soudha on Saturday at 7.30 pm. Vaave is not an oft employed Kannada word in explaining relationships between people. For example, about two people who are somewhat related to each other, but not by blood or directly via marriage, it is said – “ In Vaave, you are a brother/sister/uncle/aunt to me”.

It can be artistically interpreted as “ Unclear relationships”.
Why do two perfectly nice people grow apart? Should a couple remain together unto death? A preparation that enables one to discover oneself, that may involve solitary time away from family life - this was a norm in ancient times and considered a necessity. If a person chooses that in this day and age, how do the near and dears respond? Finally, what is love, or what we call love? The play thinks out loud about this so-called white collar but vitally fundamental questions through this play. ‘Vaave’ claims to be neither a “Serious” play nor a play with a “Social message”. It is a slice of life drama where the slice is as big as Life itself.
