For

theatre lovers

in Bengaluru,

Rangashankara

is their haven for all the best plays and theatre talk. Everyone has been eagerly waiting for the stage to throw open its doors to theatre aficionados to watch those plays once again. As a run up to that, the cultural hotspot kickstarted a set of performances at their foyer to understand functioning in the new normal before they begin staging plays once again.

Arundhati Nag

, founder of Rangashankara, on the opening night, where they had

Benaka

and

Samudaya

performing Rangageethe and play readings, announced that the first to take to the stage would be B Jayashree's troupe, with a play directed by the veteran theatreperson. We also hear that it will most likely be in the first week of January. There is also a show of

Chaitanya KM

's adaptation of late Girish Karnad's A Heap Of Broken Images lined up towards the middle of January, we are told. This play stars Arundhati herself and is a crowd favourite and has been one of the longest running plays in recent times.

Meanwhile today, there would be a staged rehearsal for theatre lovers. The hotspot, on their social media page, announced, "

Ranga Sourabha

brings an all-time favorite to our reopening ride-up today - 'Maavinagudi Colony'! Join us from 5:30 to 6:45 PM in the Ranga Shankara foyer, today (19 Dec '20), for a rehearsed reading of a light-hearted play that takes you on a walk down memory lane while also starkly highlighting the effects of globalization and progress in today's world." There are more such rehearsals and readings lined up everyday till the hotspot opens its stage.
