Sidharth Madhyamika

is the lead actor in a new short film by

Theatre Tatkal

. Titled ‘Tathastu’, the film is a short introduction to the bhava and rasa theory. Directed by Achutha Kumar, the movie also features BR Venkataramana Aital and Teju Belawadi.

Both Sidharth and Teju are former students of Nilakanteshwara Natyaseva Sangha (

Ninasam

). Sidharth is the writer and director of three plays – ‘Namma Itihaasa’, ‘Ee Naavu’ and ‘Itihaasa’, and adapted short story by S Diwakar. He has been part of many independent, art house and commercial

Kannada

films. His notable movies include ‘Crossroads’, ‘Shuddhi’, ‘96’ and ‘Ka’.

Sidharth is also the brains behind the

theatre

collective, Sapeksha, which he co-founded with his mother, Sharada GS, and Lekha Naidu in 2016. He has also translated a number of plays and texts, from English to Kannada and vice versa, under the pseudonym ‘Varaavara’. He is known to have a special interest in experimental theatrical productions, which he does under his theatre group, Sapeksha. Meanwhile, Sidharth is often busy working as a theatre trainer and facilitator, alongside creating new content for the stage.

Teju, who made her film debut film debut with the 2019 movie ‘

Gantumoote

’, has worked in more than 40 plays, making her part of over 400 shows. She first appeared in the play 2016 play ‘Idolle Ramayana’, in which she acted with her aunt, Sudha Belawadi, and her grandmother, Bhargavi Narayan. In ‘Gantumoote’, she plays the role of a teenage girl, who has to deal with academic pressure, bullying and her first love.
