The second wave has hit us hard and many can be seen volunteering to lend a helping hand. Amid all the names is city-based theatreperson

Abhishek Iyengar

who has opened a

Whatsapp group

to help those affected by Coronavirus. "I started this WhatsApp group called Covid Resource Group started a couple of days back. the main motive was that there were a lot of people seeking help and also giving help and I felt that a lot of information was getting lost in between. The main advantage of WhatsApp and other social media platforms, is that in Whatsapp it remains on your fingertips and information is stored in chats and can be shared. So I started an open invite and a lot of people joined and within four hours the group was filled. It was filled with people seeking help for injections, oxygen cylinders, beds, but it was also helped with volunteers, doctors who were helping people with registration and other issues."

According to the information received, roughly 100 plus patient have already received help through the information share. He urges people who have received help to quit so that more can be added as the limit is curtailed in the WhatsApp group.

The theatreperson is also volunteering in a public health centre near his house where people are lining up for vaccination. "Vaccine is only the key to beat the pandemic. We should not have any doubts on vaccinations. Hence, I am volunteering at my local PHC and getting more and more people to get vaccinated," he wraps.
