Sanjith Hegde left a rather cryptic caption on his social media profile recently. It said, “So I cut my hair and moved to Bombay.” So, is it goodbye to Bengaluru? “As of now, yes, I shifted to Mumbai about a month ago,” shares Sanjith.
As for what prompted this move, the singer says that he needed the mind space and a creative atmosphere to work on his upcoming debut music album.
“It’s been on my mind for a long time and I had to see it attain fruition. My flatmate in Mumbai, Bijoy Shetty, will be directing it. The entire team which will be involved in the making of this album is also here. Besides, living in the same space with Bejoy is giving me a lot more time to brainstorm ideas for the album and we’ve made good progress thus far. So, moving to Mumbai was a well-thought out move for my career,” he tells us. The album, featuring at least eight songs, will be a mix of Hindi, Kannada and English. “And it will chart my life over the years, the kind of music that has influenced me, the song writing that has impacted me and how I have evolved. So, this music album is extremely personal… I haven’t felt this connected to any of my works before. This is me...the sum total of my life so far. And the videos for the album will be a unique visual experience,” avers Sanjith.
As a parting shot, he jokes, “Half my day I spend discussing ideas for the album, the other half is dedicated to housework. I’ve never lived independently before. Now I’m realising how tough domestic chores can be."
