It's an exciting time for musician-actor Chandan Shetty. He is back with another party number, Sukka Party - his first solo this year. And he has wrapped up shooting for his debut film as a lead actor, Elra Kaaleliyatte Kaala.
“Sukka Party will remind you of songs from the 1980s, but it is not entirely retro. The song is about how men like to party when their wives are away. Even the visuals give a disco vibe. I feature in this song, which I have dedicated to all bachelors. I hope it becomes the party anthem of the year,” says Chandan.
Chandan plays a leading man for the first time in Elra Kaaleliyatte Kaala, in which he is a government employee on a weight-loss mission. “I had to put on weight, till around 90 kgs. As the shoot is now complete, I want to shed the extra kilos. I am focusing on acting now, because I am getting interesting offers. Post Bigg Boss, I wanted to explore the world of acting and I am finally getting to do that,” he shares.
On striking a balance between acting and music, Chandan shares, “I have been making music for many years, whereas acting is something I picked up recently. But I have always had a passion towards acting. I concentrate on one job at a time, so that I can deliver my best. With more film offers in the pipeline, I feel that now, that's the way to go.”
When it comes to his personal life, Chandan is a supportive husband to wife Niveditha Gowda, be it her stint on TV or beauty pageants. “When we got married, Niveditha was just 21-years-old. At the time, her life was confined to family. She dreamt of becoming a model and artiste, and I don't want to get in the way of that. We only have one life, so we need to explore whatever dreams we have. Earlier, she had no idea about the real world. It’s been over two years since we got married, and she now knows how to deal with people professionally. I am happy for Niveditha, as she is now creating her own path in the television and fashion industry,” he signs off.
