An ecstatic Chaitra says, “I am delighted that I completed 1,000 songs with

Na Maralabeku

which is a special song for me. I sang a duet after 12 years. Though it’s been a while since I recorded the song, it keeps lingering in my mind. It is unique and the lyrics of the song, penned by Jayanth Kaikini, apply to everyone. Even the genre is completely different, which is one of the reasons to like this song. The credit has to go to director Hemanth Kumar as well, who is an extremely creative person.”

On her association with Dossmode with whom she has been working for many years now, she shares, “We did a song called Krishna together. We have worked together for 3 Devi. His thoughts are out of the box, his treatment of lyrics and songs is distinctive. Even if he does a melody track, he brings local flavour. Dossmode pushes singers to give their best by trusting them, which is his trademark, and that’s why I want to work with him.”

About completing 1,000 songs, she adds, “It all started in 2000 with the Chaska

Maska

song from Bhagavan. I was doing engineering when I sang that song. I have come a long way since then. To sing 1,000 songs is a tough achievement in the current era of competition because longevity is hardly seen among the current crop of singers.”

Apart from Na Maralabeku, Chaitra picks

Huduga Huduga

from Amrithadhare as her favourite song, “I love each and every song I have crooned. The song gave me recognition and took me closer to the people. I have to thank Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, Ramya and the entire team for giving me the opportunity. Even today, after so many years, people ask me to sing Huduga Huduga on stage and this is testimony to how much people remember the song,” she signs off.
