When you have a well-known choreographer in the director’s chair, you can be rest assured that the film will have good music. Imran Sardhariya’s upcoming Kannada flick, Uppu Huli Khara, is a perfect example. And what’s more, the film boasts not one, but three composers for its soundtrack, each of whom have given the OST their own stamp, as well as superstars pitching in as singers. In a quick chat with Bangalore Times, Judah Sandhy, Prajwal Pai and Kishore Eshka tell us about musical journey and composing for the film.Prajwal Pai:This debutant has composed two of the five songs in the film and even got Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar to croon one. “I contacted Imran over social media at first, requesting an opportunity to work with him. Later, I met him and gave him some of my demo tapes. This was a time when he was looking for new talent to compose for his film and the timing worked out perfect for me. It was a great experience working with him, as he was very specific about what he wanted,” says Prajwal, whose earlier works include composing for TV commercials, radio jingles and short films.Interestingly, Prajwal is also a lead vocalist for the rock band, Ayan, and is currently working on an album with his band mates.
Judah
Judah Sandhy:The composer of the song Hatharike Bappa, which was sung by Kichcha Sudeep, Judah found working for Uppu Huli Khara a different experience, as the film has three heroes, as well as veteran actress Malashree. So, discovering a sound for the film was not a feasibility, and he had to come up with several themes to work for each cast member. Ask about Hatharike Bappa, Judah says that the song fits perfectly into the story. The tricky part, he says, was to infuse a sense of divinity into a song that will appeal to youngsters.
“After several discussions with Imran, we decided to approach Sudeep to sing it. And even though he took a while to agree, once he did, he took the song to another level,” says Judah.
kishore
Kishore Eska: Uppu Huli Khara gave Kishore the opportunity to fill in multiple roles on the crew. An assistant director to Imran, he also chipped in as composer, lyricist and rapper. “I wrote and composed the theme song of the film, which is the first Kannada song to use 360 degree virtual reality. Shashank Sheshagiri and MD Pallavi sang the song, which was picturized on the entire cast, including Malashree,” says Kishore. “At the beginning of my song, there is a rap portion, which I sang. That was a cakewalk in the studio, but when Imran asked me to come before the camera as well, it all went sideways. Once I saw the camera, I forgot the lyrics. It kept happening repeatedly and everyone on the set kept encouraging me. Somehow, I managed to get it right in the end,” he signs off.
