Two Kannada films release on festival weekend
It's hardly surprising that the theatres are jam-packed with moviegoers who are waiting to get the chance to check out the two highly anticipated Kannada films that have released this week in the run-up to Ganesh Chaturthi. Here's a look at what cinephiles have in store this weekend:
Pyaarge Aagbitaithe
The Komal-starrer – the title of which is from the hit song in Govindaya Namaha – also stars newcomer Prarthana.

The film, which is a remake of Mumbai Pune Mumbai, touches upon the topic of arranges marriages versus love marriages – all while the lead couple travel between Mysore and Bangalore. The Kevin Bhala directorial has music by Dharma Teja and cinematography by Bala Bharani is cameraman.
Lucia
This film was made in a truly democratic style as it has been funded by 1,350 members of the public. The Pawan Kumar directorial is about life and dreams explained with musical touch. In fact, the songs by Poornachandra Tejaswi songs are a hit on the charts. The cast includes Neenasam Satish, Shruthi Hariharan, Hardhika Shetty, Achyuth Kumar, Sanjay, Krishna and Rishab.
Another film that was supposed to release this week is Andu Dandupalya Umesh Reddy, which is about the notorious killer Umesh Reddy. However, the film in the midst of a legal crisis at the moment and only time will tell when it will release.
