Yet another Kannada film on demonetization

Neethu is in the film and plays an actress-turned-politician
Just days after filmmaker SD Aravinda revealed that his next would be a film based on the aftermath of the demonetization drive in the country, it turns out that newbie director Sourabh Shukla is giving finishing touches to his project, which is also based on the same subject. Called

1888

, the film stars

along with Prathap Kumar, Manju Raj and Vikram Kumar, among others. “1888 is a thriller-drama with demonetization as the backdrop, which has been shot using

guerilla

filmmaking technique. The story unfolds within the first week after the demonetization drive was announced. There’s no message in what we are trying to give; it’s just a portrayal of events that unfolded immediately after the announcement, with more than half of the film taking place in a car,” explains Neethu, adding that she plays an actress-turned-politician in the film.
Earlier this week, actor Sriimurali released the motion poster of the film, which gives audiences an idea what 1888 is about. “The making of the film is as realistic as can be, with no sets, lights or makeup. Most of the scenes were shot at random public locations, where we’d land up, shoot and leave,” says Neethu, to explain the guerilla part of the filmmaking process.
