UR Ananthamurthy confuses Modi with Dhoni

We are not sure if it was quite the Freudian slip but at a fiesty and and political discussion at a city lit fest last week, literary doyen UR Ananthamurthy kept kept referring to prime ministerial candidate Modi as Dhoni. For those who who keep abreast of such things as the diarist does, the Jnanpeeth awardee is no fan of the Gujarat strongman.
So we weren’t entirely sure when the writer blithely kept referring to Modi as Dhoni whether it was in mocking jest or simply a slip of the tongue.We were also thinking that the famous “56 inch chest” notwithstanding, dishy Dhoni for Prime Minister may not be such a bad idea after all. Pakistan too has Immy Khan as aspiring PM, don’t they?
