Why did Sriimurali turn to churning sugarcane all day long?

Sriimurali were in for a rather pleasant surprise when they spotted the actor selling

sugarcane

juice at

Chamrajpet

recently. The actor was seen digging into pile of sugarcane and making the juice from scratch and he seemed to be enjoying himself while doing so. So what made him take up this job? The actor was there for the noble cause of helping a farmer’s family that has witnessed the death of its sole earning member and was part of the programme Sadaa Nimmondige. “Farmers are the backbone of this nation. So it’s indeed sad to see that the farming community has been witnessing many suicides in the recent years due to the pressure of not being able to repay loans. In many cases, these families have lost their only earning member and the womenfolk and kids have been left behind to fend for themselves. This is a small gesture on our part to help them,” says Murali, who chose to use sugarcane grown by the farmers themselves to churn out sugarcane juice. He stayed put at the spot for six hours and earned a few thousand rupees, which he donated to the family.
