The late Kannada star Vishnuvardhana continues to live on in the hearts of his fans. Taking a step forward is the new tribute — the 14.3 km stretch Bangalore road, which will now be called Vishnuvardhana Raste. Stretching from Banashankari Temple to Kengeri, this is said to now be one of the longest roads in the country to be named after a celebrity.

“The initial proposition was from Sarjapur to Kengeri, which is much longer. However, various political issues that cropped up over the last four years since my father-in-law’s passing did not allow that. But we are happy with the new development. It is a great moment for the film industry, as well as for the fans of Dr Vishnuvardhana,” says actor Anirudh, the late actor’s son-in-law. To celebrate the same, family and fans of the late actor will participate in a road rally on February 2. “The inauguration of the road, with all its boards, will be held on February 2. We will begin the rally at 10 am at the Banashankari Temple, as we unveil the first board with the new name. Around eight wards fall along this stretch, and as we go along, we will be inaugurating each of the boards that will be put up. My father-in-law’s samadhi, which is at the Abhiman Studio, is also located on this road. There will be a puja at the samadhi, after which we will conclude the rally at the last board at Kengeri,” says Anirudh.
