Vijay Suriya forays into Telugu; as a blind man in a love story

Vijay Suriya is elated. The actor recently completed 10 years in the industry, and has now forayed into Telugu with the soap Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini. Shuttling between Bengaluru and Hyderabad for the past week, Vijay is also playing super dad and rock star in Namma Lachchi, also starring Neha Gowda.
About the Telugu soap opera, Vijay says, “I have been getting offers from Telugu and Tamil industries, and this project caught my attention.It is a love story set against the backdrop of the Krishna River. I am a blind man; not born blind, but I lose my sight due to circumstances. The story is about how I manoeuvre life. It is also a love story, which is my forte.” Odisha actor Jasmine Rath has been roped in opposite Vijay Suriya.

Getting into the skin of a blind person saw him research on YouTube. “As I am not born blind (in the serial), I understand what the world looks like. Being born blind is a different ball game. I could not have asked for a better launch to foray into the Telugu industry,” he says, feeling that the work culture is similar though, “There is a sense of urgency there, and it is fun,” he adds.
Post-Covid, many Kannada artists have moved to regional projects. “One can do a film or a show, but not another serial. It leaves us with time. To make the best out of it, we explore,” he ends.
