Vijay hopes 'Rajani Kantha' will get a U rating
Vijays upcoming Rajani Kantha will not have a lot of action and gore as is usual in his films...
That actor Duniya Vijay will have a double role in his under-production flick Rajani Kantha is old news. But that one of his characters has a birth defect is not.
Director Pradeep Raj wanted to rope in another actor to play my older brother. But later, the team felt it would be a novel idea to have me playing both roles, Rajani and Kantha.

One of my characters is born with a cleft palate. Its not easy to play such a role because people with this birth defect have speech difficulties. I have a friend with this condition, and stayed with him for 10 days to understand his mannerisms. Hes been very cooperative and youll notice how much of a help hes been because I feel Ive lent an authentic touch to my character, says Vijay.
The actor adds that the director has been sensitive in handling such a subject. We have ensured that we do not hurt the sentiments of people who have this defect. In the film, youll see how people with the condition deal with the jibes that come their way and emerge stronger, states the actor.
Vijay adds that Rajani Kantha is a complete family film and will not have the high-voltage drama or gore that has been the mainstay of his earlier films. I hope that at least this movie gets a U certificate. My family hates it if my films are rated A, laughs Vijay.
Title inspired by Rajnikanth
The title of the film was suggested by Vijays friend, the late director Tushar Ranganath. He knew that I am a huge fan of Rajini sir and said that we should name the film Rajani Kantha, says Vijay, adding that apart from the title, the film has no connection whatsoever with the Superstar.
