Veteran actor Mahalakshmi makes a foray into Kannada television

For the 80s and 90s generation, she was nothing short of an icon. Mahalakshmi was an actor who made a household name with her histrionic skills and was much in demand not just in Kannada but also Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. In a career spanning ten years, she did over 60 films with top favourites in Kannada being Hendthige Helbedi, Baare Nanna Muddina Rani, Kunkuma Tanda Sowbhagya, Baddi Bangaramma amongst others.

Her pairing with Dr Rajkumar and Anant Nag is still cherished by fans. And now there’s further reason to cheer. Mahalakshmi will be seen on Kannada television in the serial Kaveri Kannada Medium. The role is said to be a substantial one and the first episode went on air on Tuesday. Her return has left fans mighty excited with many of them expressing how she was their favourite in childhood and that her return after 30 years is being hugely awaited. Meanwhile, Mahalakshmi was also touted to return to films with a flick called TRP Rama and work has started on that front. But not much has been spoken about the film since. On the homefront, the actor lives in Chennai with her family.
