Films in Tamil and Malayalam may have been keeping Mumbai lass Vedhika busy over the years, but a return to Kannada was always imminent, she says. 'After Sangama, there were several offers that came my way, but I was waiting for a project that I totally believe in and that projects me the right way. I got that with Shivalinga,' says Vedhika. Apart from the fact that she would be paired with Century Star Shivarajkumar, the actress says that the biggest clincher for her was that it is a P Vasu directorial.
'Two things that are guaranteed in a Vasu sir film are an interesting script and the potential for his actors to perform,' she says. In the film, Vedhika plays Shivarajkumar's love interest, and goes from being a lover to wife in the course of the tale. 'Yes, I play a homemaker, but considering that Shivalinga is a thriller, it offers me a very challenging role. The relationship between the husband and wife is very important. Our chemistry had to look natural and effortless. In fact, when Vasu sir narrated the script, the first thought that crossed my mind was if I would be able to portray it effectively. But then, in the able hands of a director like him, nothing is impossible,' says the actress. Their pairing apart, what also stands out for the actress is her look in the film. 'Unlike my recent Tamil films in which I had de-glam roles, here, the entire film and the songs especially were very glamorous, and I took a personal interest in my styling. The clothes, makeup and even hairdos were well thought of. In fact, for our Italy song schedule, we had a hair dresser from Milan, which made quite the difference,' she says.
