(the Tulu name for Mangaluru), the movie is being helmed by Vinay Preetam, who had earlier directed
Madamakki
. “When it was narrated to me, I found the concept interesting. I have told them I’d like to do it. I have a powerful role according to the script, and since it’s based on real-life characters, it will be a challenging one,” says Vasishta, who has a slew of unique films in his kitty.
Meanwhile, Rohan Shetty, the maker of the film, says, “Mangaluru has been the hotbed of underworld activities for decades now. From petty street goons to local rowdies and gang lords to international dons, the city has seen them all. Our film is inspired by the tale of a don with international connections, whose sensational murder in the 90s is still spoken about by many. His reach was wide, and the word was that he had contacts with Sharath Shetty and even the D-Company.
This network of various dons across the world, thus, demands that the film be shot in locations, both local and international, including Mangaluru, Udupi, Kundapur, Karwar and Dubai. “Many youngsters get embroiled in these gangs, lured by big money and the high of leading a life on the edge. The film explores what really transpired behind the scenes,” adds Rohan.
