Television actress Vanishree Bhatt, who has also done a few minor roles in films like Parari and Badmaash, is set to step into the big league. The actress has just done her first-ever lead role in the Kannada art-house film, Mookavismitha, based on TP Kailasam’s play, Tollu Gatti. Directed by Gurudutt Sreekant, who will also be seen in a pivotal role, the film sees Vanishree in the role of Saathu, the daughter-in-law of a Madhava Brahmin household in the 1920s.
“Playing this character was in stark contrast to my carefree and talkative personality. She is an innocent, caring and sensitive woman. Her emotions have depth that add interesting layers to her character, helping her form harmonious bonds and gracefully handle family crises. The sensitivity and maturity of her character made the role very intriguing,” says Vanishree.
