Upendra strikes again with the unknown

Kannada star Upendra knows exactly what makes his audience tick. And while people wait expectantly for anything that the actor is willing to show them onscreen, Upendra also thoroughly enjoys building up the curiosity levels surrounding his work.
Take, for instance, this new picture (right) — the first look of his next directorial — Upendra 2, sent out from his studio in his home.Said to be the sequel to his Upendra, this first look has the actor sporting long locks like an ascetic, even as he’s seen wearing sunglasses and has a tattoo on his forehead that reads ‘Unknown’. “I like to give people something to ponder over, which is why my posters are made to pique their curiosity. It should leave them guessing about the content of the film,” says Upendra. Although he’s reticent about elaborating on the storyline, the actor says the film will offer more insight into his character from Upendra. “Where he goes and what happens to him after the climax is what we will explore in this film. Let people guess his story by looking at the poster,” is all he’ll say.
The sequel will apparently be made in three languages. “The canvas is huge and so it’ll take a year to be made. It will probably hit the screens by September next year. My philosophies and quest for answers to the vagaries of life will be reflected in this film, but I will do that with loads of commercial elements thrown in,” states the actor.
