Despite the OTT pressures, there are certain films that deserve the complete theatrical experience for myriad reasons

The OTT phenomenon is prevalent today more than ever with the entire country reeling under the pressures of the pandemic. Cinema halls have been closed down indefinitely, and even if one expects the lockdown restrictions to be relaxed anytime soon, it is highly unlikely that the occupancy rates will be revised to 100% right away. Film producers are currently striving hard to not buckle under these pressures and go the OTT way but with times growing only trickier, they can't be blamed for choosing the best possible solution at the moment. However, there are certain films currently in the pipeline which need the cinema halls to open up completely and offer the old-school mega experience to the audiences. These are the "big-ticket" releases that promise to put pure fun back on screen and assure that a bonafide theatrical experience can't be matched by the ongoing OTT trend.

K.G.F: Chapter 2

A spiritual companion to the 'Baahubali' series, Prashanth Neel's 'K.G.F: Chapter 2' is perhaps the most-awaited film of the year (to say the least). A lot rides on the film, both in terms of narrative closure and the hype part of it, and it goes without saying that the film is best enjoyed on the biggest of screens amidst a massive crowd. Quite apparent that fans are willing to wait out this period to experience it in cinema halls.

777 Charlie

Many Rakshit Shetty fans breathed a huge sigh of relief when the makers assured that '777 Charlie' was going to be a theatrical release and nothing else. The film has been in the making for more than 3 years, and thanks to its universal theme of canine love, a lot of anticipation has been vested with its release. With a cross-country journey at the heart of it, one that features some of the most picturesque locations of India, '777 Charlie' is indeed a visual experience awaiting crowds in those empty cinema halls. The makers are currently looking at the October - December (2021) window for the release.

Vikrant Rona

Kichcha Sudeep and Anup Bhandari's labor of love has been in the offing for quite some time and is set to make its way into everyone's hearts on the 19th of August. However, should things force further delay in its release, it is quite evident that the fans would want nothing short of a mega theatrical experience with the film. With elements of fantasy, horror, and mystery in the story, 'Vikrant Rona' promises to be a visual treat that is sure to set new benchmarks for the entire Kannada Film Industry.

Madhagaja

Despite a few serious attempts post 'Ugramm', actor Srii Murali's fans have been waiting tirelessly to see their favorite superstar return to his menacing best. 'Madhagaja', his upcoming venture with director S. Mahesh Kumar, encapsulates the same rage and intensity of 'Ugramm' and also offers a new setting for the actor to flex his muscles. With the likes of Ashika Ranganath and Jagapathi Babu too part of the cast, 'Madhagaja' is a film certainly worth the wait.

Bhajarangi 2

Director A. Harsha's biggest grandeur-filled creation, 'Bhajarangi 2' can be expected to be a one-of-a-kind film that promises to transport its audience to a whole new world. Featuring Dr. Shiva Rajkumar in the lead, the story comprises elements of mythology and fantasy which get blended uniquely with stunning imagery and action. With actors Shruti, Bhavana Menon, and a smattering of others forming the principal cast, this one's going to be nothing less than a treat.

James

A gunslinging Power Star with state-of-the-art James Bondesque artillery and globe-trotting on the side, 'James' is a serious drool-fest for all Puneeth Rajkumar fans. The film marks his first collaboration with lyricist and filmmaker Chethan Kumar wherein Puneeth Rajkumar will be paired with his 'Raajakumara' co-star Priya Anand for the second time.

Avatara Purusha - Parts 1 and 2

With the comic sensation Sharan teaming with Simple Suni for the very first time, 'Avatara Purusha' promises to be a rollicking cinematic ride that certainly warrants a theatrical release. Originally conceived as a web series, 'Avatara Purusha' was later made into a two-part film that will feature an eclectic mix of actors like Ashika Ranganath, Sai Kumar, Srinagar Kitty, and Ashutosh Rana.
