, is planning to set up his own film city on 16 acres of land. The producer wants to have a film city in Bengaluru so that it avoids film makers travelling to
Ramoji
film city in Hyderabad for the shoot of movies and in turn, generate revenue to the
Karnataka government. And, the bhoomi puja to begin construction of a dedicated film city for Sandalwood kicked off today and was attended by
Umapathy Gowda
and his family members.
Word is that the bhoomi puja of film city which happened today was attended by his family members. The construction is coming up on a 25-acre land and is costing the producer Rs 175 Crore. Umapathy's decision to construct a film city comes at a time when the state government has announced it's decision to construct a film city in Mysuru.
The film city will have street setup, villages, railway stations, hospitals and bungalows, so that major portions of film shoots can be done inside the mini film city. Work on the film city is expected to begin later this year.
