Ukranian model makes Sandalwood debut

The Kannada film industry has been getting its share of firang imports and the latest to join that ever growing list of actors is Ukranian model Smishna. The model-turned-dancer-turned actor is going to make her debut with Yuva Samrat which also features Kiran Nandakumar, the son of senior film reporter Nandakumar. And, what is interesting, is the fact that the whole family is associated with the project – Kiran’s brother, Yeshwanth Kumar, has written the story and screenplay for the film and is also going to wield the megaphone for the project.
Of late, several models from the erstwhile USSR are making their debut in Sandalwood as full time heroines. Many of them are part of routine dance troupes that perform in movie songs. Though Smishna had not performed in any Kannada movie in the past, her acting skills prompted the filmmakers to select her for the heroine’s role. It will be interesting to see how Smishna fares in Sandalwood.
