According to Sacnilk, in its first week, 'UI' performed well, earning a total of Rs 26.3 crore in India. The film started strong with Rs 6.95 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 5.6 crore on the second day and Rs 5.95 crore on the third day. However, as the week progressed, the collections saw a decline, with earnings of Rs 2.3 crore on Monday and Rs 2.1 crore on Tuesday. By the end of the first week, 'UI' had collected Rs 1.05 crore on Thursday. Early estimates indicate that on its second Friday (December 27), the film earned approximately Rs 87 lakhs, bringing its total to around Rs 29.95 crore.
Set in a dystopian world in 2040, 'UI' is about societal breakdown caused by various global crises such as artificial intelligence, and climate change.
The cast includes Upendra alongside Reeshma Nanaiah, Sunny Leone, Sadhu Kokila, and Murali Sharma in key roles. While some viewers have praised Upendra's performance and the film's visual effects, others have pointed out that the screenplay can be predictable at times.
