Its every actresss dream to appear dazzling onscreen. But as fate would have it, Asmitha had to portray an avatar sans glam and look very ordinary in her film Karunkali. Thats because I play a slum dweller in this film. My character is called Sengodi and I had to sport a dark, tanned look throughout the film. You wouldnt even be able to recognise me in the film, she chuckles.
Narrating the experience working in the film directed by Kalanchiyam of Mitta Mirasu fame, Asmitha says, I was quite apprehensive while shooting for the film.
I rehearsed a lot to get the body language right, says the actress who has two more films in her kitty.
She feels her stint with TV, where she anchored a programme as a child artiste, helped her get a break in films.
Being in touch with television right from a young age helped me get into films .And now Im eagerly awaiting the release of Karunkali, which should happen in a month or two.
