‘Toxic’: Karnataka film chamber president asks viewers not to judge Yash starrer based on teaser alone
Yash's upcoming film 'Toxic' faces backlash over its teaser, with religious and women's groups alleging disrespect and obscenity. Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President Dr. Jayamala urges the public to reserve judgment until the film is fully reviewed and certified by the CBFC, emphasizing that teasers are merely promotional glimpses. The film's release is slated for March 19, pending certification.
Kannada star Yash’s much-awaited film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ has been facing criticism after its teaser. Some religious groups and activists said the teaser disrespects Saint Michael and could hurt Christian feelings. Meanwhile, some have claimed that the scenes are obscene and not for family viewers. Women’s groups have asked the Karnataka State Women’s Commission and the CBFC to check the promotional content carefully.

KFCC president responds

Amid the film receiving negative attention, Dr Jayamala, President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, asked people not to judge the film just by the teaser. As per a report by India Today, she said, “Complaints have come in about the Toxic teaser, but I am not aware of what exactly is wrong.” She said the teaser is only a small part meant to attract audiences and is not the full film.

Dr Jayamala added, “A teaser is just a glimpse meant to attract audiences to theatres. Discussing the film before it has been reviewed by the censor board is premature. Filmmakers invest hundreds of crores into their work, and viewers should see the full film before forming an opinion.” She mentioned that the filmmakers have denied all claims of disrespect or obscene content.
