was looking for an actor to play the role inspired by the deceased former Ranchi MP Praveen Kumar, which took him to Mumbai. It was here that he chanced upon Tota as an option for his film. “I was in Mumbai casting for my film. At the airport, I met filmmaker Ashok Pandit and we got talking. I happened to mention about the role I had in mind and he said that he had the perfect fit, as Tota would not only suit the role, but also resembled the person I had based this character on. This was when I contacted him,” says Shashikant.
The filmmaker adds, “To my luck, Tota happened to be in Bengaluru when I spoke with him and we met up in Yelahanka. He was very kicked about the role and the film and immediately agreed to be a part of the project. We recently filmed all his portions in Ranchi, where we shot over a 15-day schedule.”
The team of Ranchi will soon commence on the rest of the shoot. The film has Prabhu Mundkur in the lead role.
