The man who made eccentric titles and symbols for films a trend has to fall back on it now. However, Upendra is not directing this film. His film with director Sreenivasa Raju after undergoing a couple of controversial title changes is now using a symbol. First, the film was named Basavanna. But with a gun by the side of the protagonist, it courted trouble.

Using the revered saint's name for a 'violent' film did not go well with many.
After a few failed attempts to defend the title, the name of the film was changed to Brahmana which fell into bigger trouble and was immediately withdrawn. For months now, the film was without a title and now the religious symbol of Shaivates, the 'pattenama' with the obvious mark of the third eye of Shiva has been used as the title. As of now, there is no trouble against the title.
It was Upendra who started the trend of naming films with symbols with his famous `swastik'. Before that he had named a film Shh. Other curious film titles of his include ? (abandoned later), Upendra, A, the recent yoga mudra symbol for Super among others. The film stars Upendra and Ragini.
