If things work out, then, for the very first time, a Kannada film could become India's official entry to the
Oscars.
The Kannada film Thithi, made by young Bengaluru filmmakers
Raam Reddy and Ere Gowda, will soon have an Oscar-qualifying theatrical release in the US. This is required for a film to be considered for the Oscars. If all goes well then it could be the first Kannada film to be sent as India's official entry to the Oscars.
The chances that this will happen are quite high as the movie has won 10 awards already at various national and international film festivals. It even received the
National Award for the Best Kannada film.
