Actress-turned-director Vijayalakshmi Singh is creating history of sorts in Indian films by being the first mother to direct all her daughters (three of them) in a film. Her latest film,

Yaanaa

, features her daughters Vaibhavi, Vaisiri and

Vainidhi

in leads and is now half done. She reveals that her cast also comprises three Kannadiga boys in the lead. 'I had auditioned many aspirants for the lead roles and I was fortunate enough to find three Kannadiga boys ' Sumukha, Chakravarthy and Abhishek. To my good luck, each of them even fit the kind of characters I had visualized for the film,' she says.
Vijayalakshmi adds that the film has a supporting cast of 30-40 boys who are also mostly Kannadigas. 'I am amazed at the level of passion and talent these youngsters have. I only need to explain what I need and they automatically perform. There is a lot of good energy on the set,' she explains.

Speaking about the plot, the

Ee Bandhana

director says that it revolves around six engineering students and a journey they undertake, both literally and figuratively. 'This film is all about the fun times and incidents that happen in that age. Yaanaa traces not only the journey they undertake on the road, but within themselves as well. It is something that youngsters will be able to relate to,' she adds.
