It’s confirmed. The Ragini Dwivedi-starrer The Terrorist will hit theatres on October 18, in what will be a clash with that week’s big-ticket release, The Villain — something that most film teams would shy away from. Confident about the content of their film, the makers of The Terorist, producer Alankara Santhana and director PC Shekar, believe that it is a good time to hit theatres.
“The Terrorist was recently cleared with U/A certification and no cuts, which is encouraging. The trend in Kannada cinema now is that the number of films releasing week-on-week has been on the rise. In such a scenario, waiting for a solo-release window is nearly impossible, and we will have to anyway release some day and face competition from some film or the other. There is no way around it as a lot of big films in different languages are lined up for the rest of the year. The date we have chosen coincides with a four-day holiday and our understanding is that with no other big film up for release, for Kannada audiences, we will be on the priority list after The Villain, which is good for us,” says Shekar, adding, “Also, our viewers are known to appreciate good content and once word of our film spreads, we believe they will watch.” Santhana echoes Shekar and adds, “We are confident about the strength of our content and that is all that matters.”
