The music of Samhaara embodies the characters of the film: Ravi Basrur
If you’ve seen a film multiple times and are not bored with its background score (BGM) or songs and actually feel it lingering on in your mind, it goes to show the quality of the music. Ravi Basrur, the composer of Samhaara, believes that his work for the film belongs to that category and counts it among his best works. While he got to experiment with different genres and voices for the songs and the theme track, Ravi adds that he has to credit director Guru Deshpande for the characterizations in the film that allowed him to compose such music.
“All the songs are situational and will not stick out like sore thumbs in the narrative.

In fact, most of them are explanatory of the characters. Like, for instance, Rakshasi, sung by Raghu Dixit, which is about the character played by Hariprriya. She is the villain in the tale and it is one of the central and most important roles in the film. The background score that plays every time she is onscreen, therefore, needed a certain powerful feel to it. The Rakshasi song and her BGM come up quite often in the film and this track and the theme song, are my personal favourites,” says Ravi.
Another highlight on the OST, he says, is Yenachariyu, a track featuring Chiranjeevi Sarja. “Chiru’s character is blind, but there is so much emotion that he carries around that we needed a voice that embodies that and brings a certain charisma in as well. And who better than Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar to do that,” says Ravi.
Jeeva Hodara a romantic number picturized on Chiranjeevi and Kavya Shetty is also unique, says the composer, considering that it has Vijay Prakash singing in the Hubballi dialect. “There are a couple of other noteworthy numbers, including a dream song featuring Kavya that has been sung by Supriya Lohith, as well as Rajahuli, a character introduction song for Chikkanna, who plays a serious cop in the film,” he signs off.
